GBP Attributes

Attributes are checkboxes on your Google Business Profile that describe specific features of your restaurant: outdoor seating, takeout, dine-in, delivery, accepts reservations, wheelchair accessible, vegan options, gluten-free options, free Wi-Fi, dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and many more.

Attributes serve two purposes. First, they are relevance signals for filtered searches — when a customer searches "restaurants with outdoor seating brooklyn", Google narrows to businesses with the outdoor-seating attribute set. Second, they appear in the knowledge panel and influence whether a customer chooses to visit.

The list of available attributes varies by primary category. Restaurants get a richer set than retail. New attributes appear over time — Google added "Identifies as women-owned" and "Identifies as Black-owned" in recent years, and these often surface in dedicated discovery surfaces.

Set every attribute that genuinely applies. Do not over-claim — Google can suppress your profile if a customer reports a missing or wrong attribute. The audit task is mechanical: open the GBP dashboard, walk every attribute, and check the ones that match reality.

Attributes are filter signals. A diner searching specifically for 'vegan options' or 'outdoor seating' has high purchase intent. If your attribute is unset, you are invisible to that filtered search even if your menu does match. The cost of setting attributes is fifteen minutes; the upside is steady high-intent traffic.
